British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron agree that it is important to achieve a settlement of the situation in Ukraine through diplomatic means. In a message published by Downing Street, it is noted that representatives of the states after the conversation agreed to continue trying to eliminate the observed tension, RIA Novosti reports.

“The leaders informed each other about their respective discussions with international partners, including the Prime Minister’s visit to Kiev last week. They agreed that the search for a diplomatic solution to the current tensions should remain a top priority,” the statement reads.

Macron and Johnson decided that Paris and London will continue to develop a package of sanctions in case of a Russian invasion of Ukraine. In addition, representatives of the two countries also managed to discuss the strengthening of NATO’s eastern flank.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov assured that Moscow is not going to attack anyone. He stressed that the country needs good-neighborly relations with Ukraine and with the fraternal Ukrainian people.

Antonov also called the accusations of Western countries against Russia blasphemy. According to him, they are directed against Moscow as part of an unofficial information war. As the main priority of the West, Antonov called providing a reason for the operations of the Ukrainian army against Donbass.
