Four people were killed during protests by supporters of President Donald Trump in Washington, Metropolitan Police Chief Robert Conti said. TASS reports.

At a press conference, Conti confirmed the death of a woman from a gunshot wound in the Capitol building, and also reported three more victims – two men and one woman. At the same time, the head of the Washington police did not specify the reasons for their death. According to him, they “experienced various medical emergencies that led to their death.”

Earlier it was reported about the death of a woman named Ashley Babitt during the protests. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force where she served for 14 years and was a senior security officer. Her husband clarified that the deceased was a supporter of President Donald Trump.

On January 6, protesters Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Building and surrounded the Senate Hall. The Senate and House of Representatives interrupted the meeting, which was planned to approve the results of the last elections, according to which Democrat Joe Biden won the presidential election. Trump himself has called on supporters to act peacefully and support the police. The Capitol Building in Washington was later cleared of protesters. Later, House Democrats called on Vice President Mike Pence to use the 25th Amendment to the Constitution to remove Trump from power.
