Horner (r.) Refuses to shake hands with Wolff
In Formula 1, the boom is hugely crooked. After the crash race in Budapest, the team bosses argue in front of the camera.
Mercedes superstar Lewis Hamilton regained the championship lead at the Hungaroring. After a crash at the start, he fell back to last place, but came in second in the end. Red Bull rival Max Verstappen, on the other hand, was shot down and crossed the finish line in a battered car far behind Hamilton.
Spicy: Valtteri Bottas triggered the start crash on a wet track. The team-mate of world champion Hamilton also took Sergio Perez, the second Red Bull driver, out of the race. That was of course not well received by “Bullen” team boss Chris Horner. “Will he take over the bill?” He asked after the race in the direction of Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff.
He wanted to apologize to Horner and said: “It was a small mistake with serious consequences that caused such a big accident. I'm very sorry for you.” TV pictures show that the Viennese's words did not have much of an effect. Horner even refused a handshake.
Red Bull is especially angry about the high costs caused by the battered cars. Because at Silverstone Lewis Hamilton shot rival Max Verstappen off the track. At that time, according to Horner, there was damage of 1.5 million euros. “The consequences for us are brutal – especially against the background of the cost ceiling,” says the Briton.
