It will be inevitable. The engine of Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes has to be replaced again this year. Hamilton has already driven three engines this season – that is the maximum that is allowed. There are still seven races to go and it can be assumed that Hamilton will need another engine. When the time comes, he receives a penalty and has to start from the end of the field.
Open questions
Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff explains to Sky UK that the racing team is considering changing the drive in Istanbul. “It's a possibility,” says the Viennese. “When and how has not yet been decided.”
