The 2022 season will include 23 races, starting March 20 in Bahrain. Between Imola and Barcelona, the teams have to go to Florida.
Formula 1 wants to host a record season with 23 races in the coming year. The World Motorsport Council approved a corresponding draft of the calendar on Friday in Paris. The 2022 season should start on March 20th in Bahrain and traditionally end on November 20th in Abu Dhabi and thus last 245 days. The Austrian Grand Prix is scheduled for July 10th in Spielberg.
Originally, after the Corona emergency year 2020, Formula 1 wanted to host 23 races this season, but the pandemic forced the premier class of motorsport to reschedule again. This year there will be 22 Grand Prix races. As in 2020 and 2021, China is missing from the calendar in 2022 due to Corona. On the other hand, Miami will be represented for the first time on May 8th.
Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali said happily: “We are happy about the interest in Formula 1 and about new organizers who want to hold races. I think we have a fantastic calendar of places like Miami and historic and famous routes. “
