Full throttle! Today Lewis Hamilton fights against Max Verstappen in Spielberg for victory. But the Brit is also thinking about the future.
That is at least regulated for now. Hamilton prematurely extended his contract with Mercedes until 2023. But the situation is not easy for the defending champion, who is used to success, because at the moment he usually only sees the rear of the Red Bull cars. “When the cars were so close together at the start of the season, that was the most exciting time for me. I was hoping it would stay that way. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it at the moment,” mused Hamilton.
But he still has ambition. “I'm here to win. If I don't have this passion and dedication anymore, then I'll quit,” said Hamilton. He is currently 18 points behind Verstappen in the World Cup. But at Mercedes they believe in a turnaround next season at the latest. Because then a new rule takes effect. The Germans have already put a lot of development work into the future racing cars. Of course, it remains to be seen whether Hamilton will be at the top again.
