This means that only a few cockpits are still open for the 2022 season.
Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda will again form the driver duo for the Alpha Tauri Formula 1 team in the coming season. This was announced by the Red Bull sister team on Tuesday before the Italian Grand Prix. The 25-year-old Frenchman Gasly had sensationally won the race in Monza last year, has been driving in Formula 1 since 2017 and is currently eighth in the World Championship. The Japanese Tsunoda (21) is contesting his debut season, he is 13th overall.
Russell to Mercedes?
After the driver's decision at Alpha Tauri, only a few cockpits are still open for the coming year. George Russell is likely to switch from Williams to Mercedes, where he will succeed Valtteri Bottas, who replaces Kimi Raikkonen at Alfa Romeo. It is still unclear whether Antonio Giovinazzi will be allowed to continue driving at Alfa. Haas has not yet announced whether Mick Schumacher and Nikita Masepin will also form the driver pairing in 2022 after their recent differences. Aston Martin has not officially confirmed Sebastian Vettel for next year either.
