US President-elect Joe Biden has nominated the country's former ambassador to Russia, William Burns, as head of the CIA. Writes about this Reuters with reference to the Democrat's team.

Burns is a former US Undersecretary of State. In total, he worked as an American diplomat for 33 years.

The American was the Ambassador of Russia in 2005-2008. Burns is now president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace think tank.

In December, Biden also nominated Native American Deb Haaland to the post of Interior Minister, and former Fed Chief Janet Yellen to the post of Finance Minister. For the post of Secretary of Energy, the new US President proposed ex-Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm. Biden also invited his former rival Democrat Pete Buttidzic to take over as minister of transport in the government.

The Senate will consider the proposed candidates no earlier than the end of January.
