Former South Korean Defense Minister Attempted Suicide: Media Reveals Details

An investigation is currently underway into the declaration of martial law in South Korea.

Former South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who is in a pretrial detention center in eastern Seoul on charges of rebellion, tried to end his himself.

This was reported by Yonhup.

After the unsuccessful attempt, Kim is in a protective cell, said the Commissioner General of the Korean Correctional Service Shin En Hae, at a hearing in parliament.

“The former defense minister's condition is not a cause for concern now,” he added.

Recall that Kim Yong Hyun resigned on December 4 due to martial law, apologizing to citizens. Four days later, he was arrested on suspicion of treason.
