This happened on the day of Roman Starovoit’s official resignation.

Former Russian Minister of Transport Roman Starovoit was found dead in Odintsovo (Moscow Region).

This was reported by the official representative of the Russian Investigative Committee, Svetlana Petrenko.

“Today in the Odintsovo urban district, the body of the former Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, Roman Vladimirovich Starovoit, was found with a gunshot wound in his personal car,” she reported.

The investigation is currently establishing the circumstances of Roman Starovoit's death, but the main version is suicide. According to sources, his body was found in a house in the Odintsovo District, and not in a car, as was previously reported. A gun was allegedly found near the body.

Amid widespread disruptions to airport operations due to drone attacks, Russian President Vladimir Putin fired Transport Minister Roman Starovoit. In two days, nearly 500 flights were cancelled in Russia, more than 1,800 were delayed, and dozens of planes were sent to alternate airfields. Airlines could have lost more than 20 billion rubles. Passengers returned tickets en masse, spent the night in hotels, and received vouchers for food and drinks. Although the Kremlin claimed that the resignation was not related to a loss of confidence, its coincidence with the aviation collapse raised suspicions. Russian media reported that Starovoit’s dismissal had been in the works since June, probably due to corruption scandals in the Kursk region.
