Lech Walesa
Former Polish President and Nobel Prize winner Lech Walesa began looking for additional work due to the coronavirus pandemic, reports the Onet portal.
“I would love to become an electrician. I still remember Ohm's law, Kirchhoff's law and some other things. But, damn it, everything has changed, and I don’t know if these cars will kill me now, ”the publication quotes Walesa, who was educated as an electrician.
The 77-year-old politician, in his own words, cannot find additional earnings – his wife spends more than their household receives. After retirement, he receives 6 thousand zlotys every month, which is about 1.6 thousand dollars. The average salary in Poland is 4.9 thousand zlotys.
At the end of last year, Walesa told the media about his poverty and said that he was “preparing to go beg for alms.”
Walesa founded the Solidarity trade union in the 1980s. In 1983, he received the Nobel Peace Prize, and led Poland from 1990-1995. Before the pandemic, Walesa gave paid lectures at various universities around the world.
