Thomas Webster

A former NYPD officer was charged with assaulting a police officer during the storming of the Capitol. This was reported by the CNN channel with reference to federal prosecutors.

Thomas Webster, 52, reported himself to the FBI office in New York. According to prosecutors, a man hit a police officer with an aluminum flagpole. Then Webster began to beat the policeman with his hands and pull off his uniform, thereby blocking the officer's access to air.

Webster is charged on six counts, including assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon, obstructing police work, entering and disturbing public order in the Capitol.

The storming of the Capitol in the United States took place on January 6 during a rally of supporters of the current head of state, who do not recognize the results of the November vote, which resulted in the election of Democrat Joe Biden as president. The rallies led to clashes with the police. Five people died, dozens were detained.
