FSB: a court in Novosibirsk sentenced the ex-head of the Ministry of Defense to 5 years

The Novosibirsk garrison military court sentenced the former head of the Russian Ministry of Defense Anatoly Zalivin to five years and the ex-managing director of the defense enterprise Scientific Research Institute of Electronic Devices (NIIEP) Amir Alyamov to six years, found them guilty of malfeasance and corruption. TASS was informed about this in the regional department of the FSB.
The convicts will serve their sentences in a strict regime colony. They also have to compensate for the damage in the amount of almost 60 million rubles, caused to the military department. Alyamov was also deprived of a state award, and Zalivin was deprived of his military rank. What – is not specified. In addition, both the former managing director of NIIEP and the ex-head of the Ministry of Defense are deprived of the right to hold positions in the civil service.
According to the intelligence service, the criminal case was opened in November 2019. According to the investigation, Alyamov gave the military representative bribes totaling 2.3 million rubles for signing the conclusions with inflated prices for the company's products. As a result, the Ministry of Defense suffered 60 million rubles of damage. Alyamov was accused of forgery, abuse of authority and bribery, and Zalivin was accused of accepting a bribe.
Alyamov was arrested on November 11, 2019.
