On the night of January 14, in Batumi, at the Sheraton Hotel, an attack took place on former Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Gakharia, who now heads the opposition party “For Georgia”.

According to eyewitnesses, the participants in the conflict included members of the People's Power Dmitry Samkharadze and member of the Verkhovna Rada of Adjara Georgiy Manvelidze, who belong to the ruling party.

Journalist Zviad Koridze also reported the attack, claiming that he was beaten during the incident with Gakharia. According to Koridze, Samkharadze and others behaved aggressively, insulted him and the United National Movement party, and then started a fight.
The police opened a case on assault, but refused to comment on the involvement of the deputies in the incident.
Recall that another Georgian volunteer, Kakha Tilidze, died in Ukraine. He was from the village of Zemo-Alvan in the Akhmeta municipality of Georgia. Earlier, Tilidze participated in the Ukrainian operation in the Kursk region.
