Former assistant to Republican congresswoman Beth van Dyne committed suicide in front of her home in Texas. It is reported by The Hill with reference to law enforcement agencies.
Chris Dillard worked for Van Dyne as Director of Public Relations from November 2019 to April 2020, when the politician was campaigning.
At the time of the incident, Van Dyne was in her own home. Hearing the shooting, she looked out the window and saw the body of a man on the sidewalk leading to her house, after which she immediately called 911. During the searches in the house of the deceased, the police did not find anything that would explain the man's motive. The investigation continues.
Earlier it was reported that political consultant Brad Parscale, who until July was the campaign manager of former US President Donald Trump, tried to commit suicide. It was alleged that Trump demoted Parscale in July due to not being happy with the organization of a number of events as part of his election campaign.
