Forest Week: Belarusian volunteers plant trees at felling sites
Green wealth. The “week of the forest” has begun in Belarus. Volunteers are planting trees all over the country. MIR 24 correspondent Eleonora Lutovich also took part in the action.
Four hands work in this area. The employees of the leshoz are helped by children with special needs. The forest is being restored at the site of a windbreak. On this small site alone, eight thousand seedlings will be planted per day. Basically, these are spruce, birch and pine. Almost half of the country's forests are mixed.

“I like planting trees. Everything works out, great. Today is the good day. Not cold. And when you work, you warm up, ”says the participant of the action Olesya Suvorova.
The volume of timber harvesting in Belarus is growing. Trees have to be cut down also because of the bark beetle: it multiplies quickly and destroys the forest. Therefore, such an action is held annually. This year 17 million seedlings are planned to be planted in Belarus in a week.
“We plant not to show someone, but for ourselves. We understand that as much as we plant today, so much will take root. The forestry needs help, ”said Vitaly Bondarevich, head of the department of the Ministry of Forestry of Belarus.
The felling was completed on this site no more than a month ago. And today small trees are already turning green.
“This year we have defined a plan for ourselves – more than 35 thousand hectares of new forests will be created. We are ready to attract everyone and provide them with tools, planting material, and areas for carrying out these works, ”said Valentin Shatravko, First Deputy Minister of Forestry of Belarus.
Children receive a commemorative prize for good work. They also rely on adults – for this you need to post a photo with the hashtag “week of the forest” on the social network. In this way, even more people will learn about the action. And the author of the most beautiful photo will receive a gift from the forestry.
Anyone can do a good deed and plant trees in their yard or district. To do this, you must submit an application to the local administration. And utilities will help with inventory and seedlings.
