Foreign Ministry reacted to Szijjártó's statements: Peace in Hungary is impossible without peace in Ukraine

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded to the statements of Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, who said that Hungary would not support EU sanctions against Russia in the field of energy, and also opposes the no-fly zone over Ukraine and the peacekeeping mission that Poland proposes.

As the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko noted in a comment ICTV Facts, peace and security in Hungary cannot be guaranteed without peace and security in Ukraine.

In addition, the argument about seemingly not provoking Russia is a common thesis when you need to give the Russian Federation more space for aggression.

According to Peter Szijjarto, in order not to provoke Russia, Hungary should not support the closing of the skies over Ukraine and the deployment of a peacekeeping operation, and should not allow the transit of military aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine through Hungarian territory.

— Of course, we do not wish anyone the grief that Ukrainians have faced because of the Russian war. At the same time, it is a mistake to believe that Hungary, like any other European country, exists in a vacuum,” Speaker Oleg Nikolenko said.

He stressed that Ukraine is now actually protecting NATO’s eastern border . If the Russian Federation manages to achieve criminal goals in Ukraine, then our neighbors will be next, as Russian ambassadors abroad openly say.

– Just yesterday, evidence appeared that the FSB of the Russian Federation is trying to undermine the situation in Transcarpathia, using the Hungarian factor. Hungary has always positioned itself as a defender of the rights of foreign Hungarians, — Oleg Nikolenko noted.

Therefore, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry calls on Hungary to openly condemn this Russian provocation and use its developed communication channels with Moscow to prevent any provocations with the aim of inciting ethnic hatred in Ukraine.
