The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reacted to the statements of the French Minister on European affairs of Clément Bon on Ukraine's membership in the EU for 15-20 years. The diplomatic department hopes to enlist the support of France on the path to joining the European Union.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry noted that “talking about alternatives that can replace the full integration of Ukraine into the EU” will not do the European community is stronger.
This was announced by Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko in a commentary to European Pravda.
“The war of Russia against Ukraine showed the need to rethink the future of Europe. Approaches that have guided European politicians so far have not been able to secure the European continent from new aggression. Talk about alternatives that can replace the full integration of Ukraine into the EU – changing the form, but not the content. This path will not make the European community stronger and more prosperous,” the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
It is worth noting that the French Minister for European Affairs, Clement Bon, recently made a statement about the process of Ukraine's accession to the European Union. The French minister believes that Ukraine will be able to become a member of the EU no earlier than 15-20 years.
