After the militants of the radical Taliban movement (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) came to power in Afghanistan, the security situation in the country did not collapse. This is how Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Oleg Syromolotov assessed the current situation, RIA Novosti reports.
“We note that the new Afghan authorities are making efforts to ensure security and stability in the country,” the diplomat said. He stressed that the Taliban promised not to create threats to third countries.
“Nevertheless, the risks of the spread of terrorism, as well as drug trafficking, still exist,” concluded Syromolotov. He expressed concern about the activities of terrorist groups.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) called on Afghan and foreign business representatives working in the country to contact him for security services. The Taliban government said it has rebuilt the National Public Defense Forces and is asking to sign contracts with them.
