Forecasters warned Russians about abnormally snowy winter

This winter, a significant increase in the amount of precipitation is possible in most of Russia, experts from the Phobos center told RIA Novosti.

According to experts, despite the ongoing global warming, the process of ice melting in the Arctic has stopped. According to some experts, the Northern Hemisphere will face a severe snowy winter.

Meteorologists believe that while it is impossible to talk about a reversal of global warming, however, the preservation of significant ice masses in the Arctic will have a great impact on the winter – the circumpolar vortex forming over the pole will be stronger than usual. As a result, the Arctic jet stream will be pushed further to the southern latitudes.

The cyclones near the surface of the earth will also shift, and the west-east transfer of air masses will also increase and there will be more precipitation, experts say.

According to forecasts, the most significant anomalies will affect the regions of the south of Russia, the upper reaches of the Ob, Yenisei, the Baikal region and the north of the Far East.

In Moscow, the first serious drop in temperature is expected no earlier than the 20th of October, noted Tatyana Pozdnyakova, a leading expert of the Moscow Meteorological Bureau. According to her, the weather in the city is quite ordinary for autumn.

Earlier it became known that the atmospheric pressure in Moscow in the coming days will significantly increase against the background of an extensive anticyclone. Forecasters noted that a vast anticyclone with a zone of increased pressure dominates the entire territory of European Russia.
