A strong anticyclone, which forecasters call a “greenhouse pot”, will hold out in Moscow for about 12 days. The portal “Meteovesti” reports about it with reference to the data of the weather center “Phobos”.

“A giant blocking anticyclone, which in meteorology is sometimes called a 'greenhouse pot', has established itself throughout the troposphere and will last up to 12 days,” forecasters said.

At the same time, Phobos noted that the normal life of such an anticyclone is about five days. Such 12-day anomalies occur only in 1% of cases.

In the second half of July, precipitation will return to Moscow, but the monthly norm for the amount of rain will be fulfilled only by 50%, forecasters specified.

“July 2021 will inscribe itself in meteorological history as one of the driest in the last 55 years,” added the center.

Earlier, the head of the situation center of Roshydromet, Yuri Varakin, told RBC that the abnormal heat in Moscow would continue until mid-July. According to him, the peak of the heat will be on the coming Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. On these days, the daytime temperature can rise to plus 32-33 degrees. At night in Moscow it will be up to plus 21 degrees, while now the night temperature is plus 15-17 degrees.
