Forecaster warned about “greenhouse boiler” in Moscow

Leading employee of the Phobos weather center, Yevgeny Tishkovets, warned Muscovites about the “greenhouse boiler”, which will last for about 12 days, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the meteorologist, this weather phenomenon occurs infrequently and is caused by the arrival of the Scandinavian anticyclone in the European part of Russia.

“A giant blocking anticyclone, which in meteorology is sometimes called a 'greenhouse pot', has established itself throughout the entire troposphere and is even traced in the lower stratosphere at an altitude of 10-12 kilometers, blocking the paths of the winds and blocking the western transport that brings stormy cyclones,” Tishkovets warned …

He noted that such a phenomenon will last for another 5-6 days, which is not typical and happens in 1% of cases.

The heat set in Moscow. Forecasters have declared the “orange” level of weather hazard. The warning will be in effect from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Thursday, 8 July.
