The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia stressed that this “is only the beginning way"
For the first time in its history, the European Union approved a defense strategy because of Russia's attack on Ukraine.
This was announced by the head of the Latvian Foreign Ministry Edgars Rinkevics.
On March 21, the EU approved the “Strategic Compass”.
“The European Union has just approved the “Strategic Compass”, it provides the necessary set of tools for the EU, together with NATO, to become a real player in geopolitical defense and security,” wrote the Latvian Foreign Minister.
The Latvian Foreign Minister stressed that this is “only the beginning of the journey”, since much will depend on how much EU support is provided bears down on Ukraine.
“Much will depend on how successfully we support Ukraine against Russian aggression,” Edgars Rinkevics emphasized.
The European Union has been subjected to a strategic compass, this requires the necessary tools for the EU to create real geopolitical and player security together with NATO. This is just the beginning of the meeting. I really want to emphasize that they successfully strengthened Ukraine against Russia's aggression
