The detention of the cargo was announced by the State Security Service of Georgia.

State Security Service Georgia stated that it had detained a cargo with six explosive devices, some of which were allegedly transported from Odessa to Voronezh “to commit terrorist attacks.”

This is stated in a statement by the Georgian special service.

According to Georgian intelligence services, the explosives were apparently brought from Odessa through Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey to Georgia on January 19, 2024 in a car belonging to a citizen of Ukraine.

“The process of further movement of the parcel was controlled by employees of the counter-terrorism center. The main purpose of these investigative actions was to identify customers and additional persons who could be involved in the transportation of the specified cargo, as well as to determine the route of movement of explosive devices and the purposes of their final use “, the message says.

According to the Georgian intelligence service, the customer later changed his decision: try to take one container with three explosive devices to Voronezh through the Daryal checkpoint, and leave the second container with three explosives in Tbilisi.

“All six separate explosive device boxes were equipped with the same number of electronic trigger timers, which were already programmed with the trigger time,” intelligence agencies said.

According to the State Security Service of Georgia, seven Georgians, three Ukrainians and two Armenians were involved in the import of explosives. Everything was allegedly organized by a citizen of Ukraine, a candidate for local deputies of the Odessa region in 2020 from the Servant of the People party, Andrei Sharashidze, originally from the city of Batumi.

Sharashidze, according to the Georgian intelligence service, actively monitored the movement of explosive devices, but the above-mentioned people probably did not know about the explosives and detonator capsules installed in the car batteries.

In Georgia they say that the total weight of the explosives is 14 kg. The containers contained military-grade S-4 explosives with detonators. All six devices were manufactured by a high-level specialist and are designed to withstand a wide range of damage.

As stated by the Georgian intelligence service, the details of this case “give reason to suspect” that Georgian territory and Georgian citizens were involved in this entire process in order to accuse Georgia of terrorist acts that could allegedly be committed by these explosives.

Ukraine has not yet commented on this situation.
