Chelsea London have spent the most money on player transfers in the 21st century. Such a team of blues was named by the portal Transfermarkt.de on its Instagram.
According to the source, the capital club has spent 2.4 billion euros on the acquisition of new players since 2000. The second place in the ranking was taken by Manchester City, which spent 100 million euros less on footballers.
The third-fourth places were shared by the Spanish “Real” and “Barcelona”. Their spending on players is estimated at 2.2 billion.
Since the summer of 2003, Chelsea has been owned by Russian businessman Roman Abramovich. Since then, the club has won the English championship five times. Last season, Londoners won the Champions League, they also took the title in 2012.
