“Fool”: St. Pölten risks legal proceedings against Riegler

Ex-captain Christoph Riegler was cut the salary by the SKN. The players' union is outraged and confident of victory.

Only in training on the ball: Christoph Riegler

Christoph Riegler is already spending his 15th year in St. Pölten. After relegation, the goalkeeper wanted to leave the SKN, but could not find a place in the Bundesliga. In the meantime, two new goalies came with a box and pride, the 29-year-old is only planned to sit in the stands.

What then happened to the long-time captain, who is one of the few integration figures in St. Pölten, outraged the players' union VdF. “Riegler's contract runs until summer 2022 and is also valid for the second division. But the SKN only pays him part of the salary, ”says VdF boss Gernot Zirngast.

Riegler's manager Max Hagmayr confirms this approach of the St. Pöltner. The goalie, which is no longer used, trains with, and is certified by the SKN to be impeccable, but the club does not plan to play in the 2nd division.

Failed rapprochement

After several negotiations and a VdF report, the consequence for Zirngast is clear: “The matter will go to court, the SKN will have to pay Riegler back any money withheld.”

Zirngast asked a question: “The SKN already had strange views in the Wisio / Beichler case. Then the transfer lock, last the lawn. Does the club really not want to leave out any faux pas? “

The SKN “sees itself in the right and hopes for an amicable solution”.

On August 24th there will be an arbitration meeting at the Bundesliga.
