Eating raw or undercooked pork is the main cause of infection with parasites that can cause serious diseases.
A doctor in the US showed a shocking X-ray showing how a man became infected with pork tapeworm eggs. This was caused by eating undercooked pork
The Daily Express US reported this.
The publication reported that Sam Ghali, an associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Florida, posted these pictures on the X platform, explaining that this case was the result of a serious cooking error.
It has become known that this type of infection, known as cysticercosis, is caused by eating undercooked or raw pork, which contains tapeworm larvae that enter the body. The tapeworm eggs can move around the human body and settle in muscles and soft tissues, particularly in the pelvic area, which does not pose a threat to life. However, if these cysts get into the brain, it can lead to serious neurological problems such as headaches, confusion, seizures and even death.
Dr. Ghali made an important conclusion: “The moral of this story is never eat raw pork.” This case caused a great stir among Internet users, who were shocked, but grateful for the doctor's clear explanation.
Recall that earlier we wrote about how to deal with worms, what types of parasites and what are the symptoms and routes of infection.
