Passenger and cargo flights, which were supposed to send Russian athletes to the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, have been canceled due to the celebration of the Chinese New Year. The situation with the transportation of athletes is reported by Match TV.
The head of the main directorate for ensuring participation in the Olympic events, Andrei Konokotin, said that from February 1 to February 14, these flights will not be operated, so the federations need to come up with a way out of the difficult situation. “We are closely tackling this issue,” he stressed.
At the Beijing Olympics, Russian athletes will not be able to fly their flag due to sanctions imposed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) last December. For two years, Russia also has no right to host major international competitions.
The 2022 Olympics will take place in Beijing from 4 to 20 February.
