The Czech police suspected five citizens of the republic of terrorist activities: they allegedly participated in hostilities in the Donbass. The local edition Denik N writes about this with reference to the statement of the prosecutor's office.
At least five people were detained on the night of April 21 – possibly more suspects. It is believed that they fought in the east of Ukraine in the ranks of the militia of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Kiev and Moscow have not yet commented on this information.
The supervising prosecutor of the Czech General Prosecutor's Office, Martin White, said that although the Czechs were allegedly found in the ranks of the militia, no one had yet been charged. The arrest operation took place throughout the country, details of the case were not disclosed.
Another diplomatic scandal broke out between the Czech Republic and Russia last week. Prague accused Moscow of involvement in the explosion in Vrbetica in 2014 and put two Russian citizens on the wanted list: Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov. Prague expelled 18 Russian diplomats from the country, in response Moscow expelled 20 Czech diplomats.
