ABC: first time omicron-strain patient dies in USA

The first death from the omicron strain of coronavirus was recorded in the United States. It is reported by the American TV channel ABC.
According to preliminary information, a Texas resident died at the age of about 50 years. The Harris County Health Department said the man was not vaccinated. He also had heart problems.
On December 13, it became known about the death of the first patient infected with the omicron-strain of coronavirus. This was announced by the Prime Minister of the country Boris Johnson. The head of the British Ministry of Health, Sajid Javid, said that at the moment in hospitals in the United Kingdom there are about ten citizens with the identified omicron strain of COVID-19.
A new strain of coronavirus, code B.1.1.529, was identified in South Africa on November 11. The first confirmed cases of infection date from November 24. The strain was named with the Greek letter “omicron” and has already managed to recognize its danger at the level of the World Health Organization.
