First of all, visas should be banned for Russian officials who influence the opinion of the deep people – Feigin

When the ban affects officials and corrupt officials, then they will be able to influence on the protest mood of the Russians.

Most Russian citizens, especially those living in the outback, have never been abroad, and the ban on travel to Europe will not change their attitude towards the war against Ukraine and Putin.

This was stated in an interview with TSN.ua by Russian human rights activist, politician and oppositionist Mark Feigin.

“These people, in that insignificant percentage (officials – ed.), unlike the deep people, decide something. These people at all levels of power make decisions, so they can just very much influence the situation, and in that including influence this deep-seated people under certain circumstances. They can cause resentment in this people. Some kind of head of the city, they are closer to this “backwoods”. Those people who fall under this discriminatory measure, if we are talking about officials and them similar, they make decisions, unlike the deep people. They can influence, because for them these discriminatory decisions are very painful, their children, their capital, their proxies, they are all in Europe, and in this way they can simply be “cut off” from all this wealth,” the oppositionist says.

Feigin stressed that these are mostly corrupt officials, people who are used to stealing and enjoying the product of theft. For them, it is very painful not to go to Paris, or not to drive around Europe.

“Of course, they can travel to Asia or African countries, but Europe is too close, and too much is connected with it. But the main problem is in Putin, not in the West, not in visa restrictions, it is in Putin. There is a discussion inside the Russian opposition “Many people say that there is no need to introduce these measures, because they will not affect Putin. That is, they still think the day before yesterday, pre-war, when some measures taken by the West should help fight Putin. But this is already a closed topic. The West is shutting itself off in order to save itself from the war, from Putin, from his adherents,” the human rights activist believes.

Max Feigin is sure that it is necessary to introduce a categorical ban on visas for Russian officials.

“This is better than a general ban, it most likely will not happen, but then impose on officials, on all beneficiaries of this system who receive corruption income and anything else. For example, an embargo for 10 years, and there we will see whether to renew or not.And of course everyone who wants to enter to go to Europe, they must sign a document stating that they are against the war, preferably even against Putin. And if not, then at home. At home there are wonderful places, Syzran, for example,” he concluded.
