One week before the opening of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, there is the first corona case in the athletes' village. This was confirmed by the organizing committee on Saturday. OC managing director Toshiro Muto did not want to provide any information about the person or nationality. Nor could he say whether the person had been vaccinated. All necessary measures would be taken to protect against spreading so that everyone in the athletes' village could feel safe, it said.
In addition, there are so far five athletes who have tested positive for the corona virus when they entered Japan. The athletes and their companions are isolated from the population in the athletes' village and must follow strict rules of behavior and hygiene. The organizers and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have repeatedly assured that the games would be “safe” for everyone.
