Unvaccinated Hertha players have to pay
What to do with those who refuse to be vaccinated in their own club? Germany's Bundesliga club Hertha BSC has now issued strict rules and asks the players to go to the cashier.
According to the rules of the German league, PCR tests are due twice a week. That costs the clubs around 70 euros each. The Berliners even have their unvaccinated professionals tested six times a week, but are no longer interested in paying for these costs themselves. Consequence: The players now have to pay themselves.
With six tests per week, the monthly cost is 1,600 euros. Many Hertha players are not affected by the measure. Manager Fredi Bobic says about “Bild”: “We have a vaccination rate of over 90 percent. And that without any kind of coercion, but through conviction.” In the German Bundesliga, the vaccination rate for the players is said to be around 82 percent and for the supervisors to be even higher.
