In southern Romania, near the Peles castle, two Ukrainian tourists were injured as a result of an attack by a bear.
The incident took place on Saturday evening, December 4, near the summer residence of the Romanian kings near the city of Sinai.
The task force, which arrived at the scene after a call about a bear attack on people, found out that 28 a 32-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were conscious . The man was injured in one arm and one leg, and the woman was injured in the leg. They were hospitalized.
Later it became known that the Ukrainians were having fun in the company of people, launching firecrackers . The explosions attracted the attention of the female bear, who thus decided to protect her cub and ran in the direction of the Ukrainian tourists.
Romanian Minister of the Environment Tanchos Barna said live on Digi 24 that all the settlements of Romania where the presence bears have become a habit, must ensure, through local authorities and other structures provided for by law, the necessary measures to prevent such attacks.
Sinai Mayor Vlad Oprya said that the territory where the bear was seen was fenced around the perimeter with warning tapes , and local residents were warned of the danger. They are going to catch and move the she-bear to a deserted area, and her cub to a specialized animal welfare center.
