Fire near Moscow: clouds of black smoke rose over the Russian “space capital”

Local authorities do not say at which particular facility of the industrial zone in Korolev, near Moscow, the fire occurred.

On Friday, April 22, a big fire broke out in the town of Korolyov near Moscow, which has the title of the Russian “space capital” due to the abundance of aerospace enterprises. Local authorities do not report what exactly burned.

Video from the scene of the incident is published by local Telegram channels.

The video footage shows that the fire engulfed a certain industrial facility, over which clouds of black smoke rose .

The local website “In Korolyov”, citing the Royal Center for Security and Civil Defense of the Population, reported that “the roof of the building caught fire in the industrial zone on Frunze Street.” Repair work was allegedly carried out here, during which a fire broke out.

The press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Moscow Region told the Russian edition MSK1 that they received a notification about the fire at about 15:00. At 5:12 p.m., the fire was extinguished.

Despite the numerous videos of the incident and the panic of local residents caused by them, the authorities did not comment on the situation.
