About 1,200 people were evacuated.
A fire broke out in Paris on one of the most famous landmarks in the world – the Eiffel Tower.
This was reported by the publication Bild.
The fire broke out in the elevator shaft between the first and second floors, forcing more than 1,200 people to be evacuated. Rescuers were working on the scene, but initially had difficulty reaching the source of the fire. The cause of the fire was said to be overheating of the cable in the elevator mechanism. The fire was brought under control and has already been extinguished.
“About 1,200 people were evacuated. It is reported that firefighters named overheating of the cable as the cause of the flames,” — a journalist from the Boulevard Voltaire newspaper.
By the time the emergency was eliminated, access to the landmark was limited, and nearby areas were closed.
