Finnish freestyler Jon Sallinen during one of the jumps in the qualifying halfpipe competition at the 2022 Winter Olympics made a mistake and crashed into the operator.

The incident occurred during the Olympic competition on February 17. The Finnish athlete lost control of the air during a jump, collided with the operator and landed very hard on the top of the ramp.

This mistake cost Sallinen a place in the final, because according to the results of the qualification for the 2022 Olympics, he took the last place.

– In the last jump, I touched the fresh snow with my skis and flew into the operator. I hope he is doing well,” Sallinen told NRK.

The freestyler also noted that he received a painful blow to the collarbone. Despite the injury, Jon went to the start for the second attempt, but again fell in the same place.

Norway continues to lead the 2022 Olympic medal standings with 13 gold, seven silver and eight bronze medals. Germany is in second place, and the United States closes the top three. Ukraine ranks 23rd in the ranking thanks to Oleksandr Abramenko's silver medal in ski acrobatics.
