Finland will change its budget to increase aid to Ukraine

The Finnish government proposes to increase the upper spending limit by almost 96 million euros.

The Finnish government on November 23 submitted proposals for changes to the 2024 budget to increase the money provided for assistance to Ukraine.

The Finnish government proposes to increase the upper limit of defense spending for the period 2024-2028 by almost 96 million euros in order to cover the purchase of the 19th military aid package for Ukraine.

Once the changes are adopted, costs for 2024 will increase by 20.7 million euros.

In addition, the Finnish government is asking to increase spending on investments and lending in Ukraine by 25 million euros.

The draft budget changes propose to authorize the state to provide a damages guarantee to cover 80% of the cost of investments up to a maximum of 20 million euros.

The Finnish government also asks parliamentarians to give the Ministry of Labor and Economics the authority to compensate for credit losses on export guarantees provided to promote exports and investments in Ukraine in the amount of up to 50 million euros.
