The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading bill No. 5110 on the establishment of criminal liability for manifestations of anti-Semitism.
The initiative was supported by 300 people's deputies. The authors of the document propose to amend Article 161 of the Criminal Code on responsibility for violation of the equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and other characteristics and supplement it with the concept of responsibility for manifestations of anti-Semitism.
This article provides for a penalty of fine from UAH 3.4 thousand. up to UAH 8.5 thousand. or restriction of freedom for up to five years, with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years or without.
September 22 of this year people's deputies adopted in the second reading Law No. 5109 on Preventing and Countering Anti-Semitism in Ukraine. The document contains the definition of anti-Semitism and indicates its main manifestations.
According to the adopted law, all these types and manifestations of anti-Semitism are prohibited in Ukraine. Violators of the established norms will bear civil, administrative and criminal liability.
