Final stage of Olympic torch relay kicks off in Tokyo
The final stage of the Olympic torch relay started in the capital of Japan on Friday, July 9, reports TASS.
During the ceremony, which takes place at the Komazawa Olympic Stadium, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike received a lamp with the Olympic flame from the relay ambassador, participant of three Paralympic Games Aki Taguchi.
The final stage of the relay is divided into six parts. It will conclude at Tokyo's main Olympic arena on the opening day of the Summer Olympics on 23 July.
Recall that earlier, the Japanese authorities declared an emergency situation in the capital due to the steady increase in the number of coronavirus cases. The restrictions will apply from July 12 to August 22.
In this regard, the competitions in the Japanese capital and three other cities of the country, including the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games, will be held without spectators.
