It says that due to doubts about the positive doping test of Russian figure skaters, the International Olympic Committee decided to postpone the medal ceremony in the team tournament.
The awards ceremony among teams in figure skating was supposed to take place on Monday, February 7th. But two hours before it began, it was postponed to Tuesday, and then generally for an indefinite period.
Officially, the IOC and the International Skating Union (ISU) reported that the Russians have not yet received their gold medals due to legal issues. IOC Communications Director Mark Adams assured that the awards ceremony should take place before the end of the 2022 Olympics. – One of my sources is interested in why the Russian Mark Kondratyuk did not go to training today. Tomorrow he should perform with a free program. Others, logically, may skip training, given that their competition at the Olympics will take place later, she wrote.
In the ROC figure skating team, the absence of some skaters was explained to journalists by the fact that they had a day off.
– I don’t know anything, except that both of my pairs didn’t go out on the ice today, because they have a day off. It was planned. The rest needs to be found out in official sources, – said the coach of the ROC figure skating team Tamara Moskvina.
However, Moskvina spoke about a couple of her charges, namely Mishin and Galyamov. Another mentor from the figurine, Eteri Tutberidze, did not show up for training at all against the background of the situation with doping tests.
Some time later, Kondratyuk's coach Svetlana Sokolovskaya said that her ward also received a day off.
Silver in the team tournament in figure skating was won by the US team, and bronze in Japan. If the ROC is disqualified, the Americans will become champions in this discipline, the silver will go to the Japanese, and the bronze to Canada.
