Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico received several wounds on May 15 during an assassination attempt.
Security of the Slovak Prime Minister Roberta Fico completely failed in her work during the assassination attempt on the head of government.
Experts expressed this opinion in an interview with the publication BILD.
The publication reports that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico received several wounds on May 15 near the House of Culture in the Slovak city of Gandlova.
David Imberman, formerly in charge of the security of Israeli officials, told reporters that the actions of Fico's guards were a “total failure.”
“In this political climate, a public handshake with the Prime Minister should have been discouraged. His personal security personnel should have prevented this. Moreover, no one knew who was waiting for him. It seems that the audience was not checked in advance and were not searched,” he stated.
According to Imberman, the mistake of the guards was that they were all standing behind Fico, and not in front of him.
“The person to be protected must be literally surrounded. Two guards must stand in front of him like a shield,” he explains.
Former police chief Stefan Hamran also criticizes the work of Slovakian bodyguards in a conversation with BILD.
“Usually the team is divided into two groups. One must eliminate the criminal, the other take care of the prime minister. But here everyone ran forward. The prime minister even fell to the ground – he had to be caught,” he says .
Recall that it was previously reported that Orban told how Fico felt after the assassination attempt.
In addition, we previously informed that Fico was operated on and nothing else threatens his life.
