The possibility of transporting Robert Fico to the capital has not yet been considered.
Recovery of Prime Minister Robert Fico, who survived the assassination attempt on May 15 its life will last at least several weeks. During this time he will remain under the supervision of doctors in the hospital in Banska Bystrica.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Slovakia Robert Kaliniak announced this on Sunday, May 19, at a briefing in the hospital, reports Aktuality.sk.
According to him, the possibility of transporting Robert Fico to Bratislava has not yet been considered.
The Deputy Prime Minister said that as of tomorrow he will no longer inform the public about the Prime Minister's health condition, but regular statements will be issued by the Roosevelt Hospital where he will be staying.
“We believe that the Prime Minister is physically strong enough for us to believe in his speedy recovery, even if we cannot count on it for at least a few weeks,” emphasized Kaliniak.
Robert Kaliniak added that the government has instructions from the Prime Minister and will try to maintain the functioning of Slovakia even without his presence.
“It would be the best encouragement if we now give the Prime Minister enough time and peace so that he can focus on returning to full health, even if it is a very difficult and painful journey,” he said.
One of the leaders of the Roosevelt Hospital, Milan Urbani, previously reported that the condition of the high-ranking patient was not yet life-threatening.
“However, his condition is still very serious, and he needs a long time and rest to recover. We believe that everything will go in the right direction,” he told reporters.
