The FFP2 obligation in the food trade is imminent. For “Nah & Frisch” boss Wuchterl, this step is a manageable task.
In a conversation with Puls4 lady Bianca Ambros, “Nah & Frisch” managing director Hannes Wuchterl spoke about the FFP2 mask requirement in retail. He was somewhat surprised that it is again up to the trade to bring protective masks among the people. Before Christmas, pensioners had copies sent home, Wuchterl wonders why this was not implemented for the entire population.
When asked whether the lead time for the trade is long enough, Wuchterl answers, in a classic Austrian way, with “yes and no”. On the one hand, the period from becoming aware of the FFP2 obligation in retail to the actual start is a relatively short one. On the other hand, his company was already preparing for a regulation in this regard when the first rumors emerged. “His” company will be able to provide both customers and employees with sufficient masks of this quality at the start of the FFP2 era. Wuchterl thinks that this will be the case in the entire food retail sector.
Incidentally, the state does not provide the masks to retailers. Wuchterl reveals that you “had to take care of the sources of supply yourself”. In-house logistics is responsible for distribution to the individual branches. The FFP2 regulations in Austria come later than was the case in Germany, for example. Wuchterl does not believe that Austria would be left behind on the world market.
The managing director assumes that there will be no access restrictions in the food trade. Although the wording of the regulation is not yet known, it will then be considered which measures are to be taken to comply with the legal text. Wuchterl rules out that there will be structural measures or customer guidance systems (“one way”) in the “Nah & Frisch” branches.
