Lieutenant Dana Tsorenko said that during the year of the pandemic she managed to work in a special coronavirus department of a hospital in Haifa, where only military personnel worked. She explained that the department only worked for a few months and was closed when the number of critically ill patients began to decline. “Israel is known for the fact that if there is an earthquake or other disaster in other countries, it always sends a group of doctors from the army to help. But this was the first time that Israeli military doctors went to help their citizens, ”said Tsorenko.
But Major Marina Melzer, together with her colleagues, helped prepare hotels for patients who did not have enough places in hospitals. According to her, there was no such experience in world practice, so everything had to be done from scratch. In addition, Melzer helped with epidemiological investigations and taking tests for coronavirus, equipping special points. “I am proud that I was able to do my little bit in this fight,” the soldier shared.
