In the UK, a man found part of a meteorite , which fell near his house.

The Mirror writes about this.

As noted, one day a man named Dan Charlton, while in his garden in the city of Wakefield, saw a green light in the sky, moving towards the earth with a whistling sound. The very next day, a local resident discovered a charred stone on the street near his house, which was still warm at that moment.

The man suggested that it could be a fragment of Halley's comet. To make sure, he contacted geologists and conducted a test that showed that the stone had a weak magnetic field. When examined under a microscope, scientists saw some signs indicating its terrestrial origin: there were no traces of the thermonuclear crust that usually forms on meteorites upon entering the atmosphere, as well as the characteristic visible holes and medium-sized crystals.

“However, there are other types of meteorites, so we cannot yet be sure of the classification of the rock,” added Professor Kelly and noted that further research is needed for a final conclusion.

In the future, scientists plan to cut the stone thinly, then grind and polish it – this is necessary for a detailed analysis of the internal structure and composition of minerals.
