The US Federal Bureau of Intelligence is investigating an attempt to damage the presidential elections using telephone and SMS robots. It is known about tens of millions of automatic calls with an appeal to “stay at home”, citing sources, The Washington Post reports.

Most often it was about a call from an unknown number with a generated female voice. At high volume, he uttered the same text: “This is just a test call. Time to stay at home. Stay safe and don't go anywhere. ” There could be several such calls per day to the same number; according to Reuters estimates, they could be made up to half a million per day.

The wave of robotic telephone disinformation began in the summer, sources say, and continued throughout the election campaign. On November 3, auto-ad-tracking company RoboKiller told Reuters that a call with this entry rose to fifth place on November 3. At least tens of thousands of Americans eventually heard this message.

It is also known that many Americans on the eve of the elections received strange SMS messages: alleged supporters of Donald Trump received information about his opponent Joseph Biden and vice versa. The message also contained a typo. Experts believe that the attackers sent such messages to create the impression of failures in the state system.

November 3 is general election day in the United States. Citizens elect a president and vice president, and 35 senators, the entire House of Representatives, 13 governors and local government representatives will be elected. The current head of state, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden, who served as vice president under Barack Obama, are fighting for the top post.

Earlier it became known that Biden won the vote in the small village of Dixville Notch in New Hampshire, where, according to tradition, the first polling station for the election of the head of state opened at midnight local time. It is noted that five people voted for Biden and no one supported Trump.
