FBI is cooperating with Israeli counterparts in the October 7 attacks.
US Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher Wray made an unscheduled visit Israel, where he met with security officials of the country and discussed the investigation into the actions of Hamas militants.
This is reported by The New York Times.
The publication reports that the FBI is cooperating with Israeli colleagues after the terrorist attacks on October 7, which killed about 1,200 people. Another 25 people were captured by militants.
“The FBI's partnership with our Israeli counterparts is long-standing, close and strong. And I am confident that the closeness of our agencies contributed to our ability to respond so quickly to these attacks and provide the most effective support possible,” Rey said at the end visit.
The publication notes that a CIA group was specially created in the United States to help Israel hunt top Hamas leaders. In addition, US intelligence agencies have increased the priority of collecting information about Hamas militants.
CIA employees also actively participated in negotiations for the release of hostages held by Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip.
After the visit, Christopher Ray headed to Germany for the Munich Security Conference.
Recall that it was previously reported that US President Joe Biden called for a six-week truce in the Gaza Strip.
In addition, we previously reported that Israel carried out massive strikes in the south of the Gaza Strip.
