In Italy, details have become known that are more reminiscent of a movie plot. Two boys, aged 9 and 6, were found completely cut off from the outside world.

A Dutch father has been hiding his children in an abandoned farmhouse in a forest near Turin out of fear of the coronavirus, according to Italian media.

The children had not attended school, had not seen a doctor, and were reportedly unable to speak properly. Both were in diapers when they were discovered. Italian authorities are now demanding that they be taken from their father and placed in foster care.

According to investigators, the newspaper Corriere della Sera writes, the father “was obsessed with the coronavirus and lived in fear that his children could become infected.”

The father, 46-year-old Frederick, denies any wrongdoing. He says the children were happy, rode ponies and skied, and studied in English and Italian.

According to the man, he earns money by renting out real estate in Germany and the Netherlands, as well as through creativity.

Apparently, the family moved from Germany to Italy three years ago, but the mother of the two boys, a native of Morocco, has not commented on the situation.
