In the Chernihiv region, a measure of restraint was chosen for a 54-year-old local deputy who knocked down a cyclist in Bakhmach. The official will be in custody without the right to post bail.
This was announced by the head of the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor's Office Sergei Vasilina on his Facebook page.
The Bakhmach District Court upheld the prosecutor's petition to choose a measure of restraint for the deputy of the local council, who provoked a fatal car accident while intoxicated .
This fact was found out after carrying out appropriate examinations. The official refused to conduct a medical examination, therefore, by a court decision, blood and urine samples were forcibly taken from the deputy.
Traffic accident in Bakhmach
In the evening of December 18 there was a fatal accident in Bakhmach. A 54-year-old deputy of the Chernihiv City Council got into a Skoda Octavia while intoxicated.
An official hit a cyclist who died of multiple injuries on the way to the hospital . The official tried to leave the scene of the accident, but the car turned over into a ditch.
The deputy faces up to 10 years in prison with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles. The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing.
